Cycling

Ingloss Skies is located on Sustrans National Cycling Route 1 that runs from Dover in the south of England all the way to the far northeast corner of Scotland; John O’Groats.

The area around the Norfolk/Suffolk border is blessed with numerous quiet lanes, cycle paths, interesting environments, that make cycling both enjoyable and fascinating. The lack of steep climbs makes this an environment accessible to cyclists of all levels of fitness, interest and capability.

A day’s tour can move through rich farmland, through the famous Norfolk broads and to the splendid Norfolk/Suffolk coasts. On the way enjoy market towns, picturesque villages, and renowned coastal towns such as Southwold, Cromer, Brancaster. All of these are within a day’s return cycling of Ingloss Skies and can be self-guided or enjoyed with a guide.

If you have a particular passion; churches, food, history, wine tasting etc. tours can be tailor-made to suit taste, passion, cycling fitness etc.

What can I do?

Blessed with endless country lanes; road cycling and road touring from Ingloss Skies is the easiest and most efficient way to cover the miles in search of freedom, interest, escape and fresh air. We also have an extensive route of cycle paths crossing the counties for the ultimate off-road experience.

With so many options available we have erred away from basic ‘off-the-peg’ options that some websites can provide and prefer to understand our customers passions, desires, fitness and ambition, so that whether one-day rides or multi-day rides, they can be tailored precisely to each individual or group.

Suggestions of routes may include churches, food, history, wine tasting, nature, wildlife and scenery.

As soon as you decide that a single day or a multi-day cycle ride from Ingloss Skies is the activity you wish to do whilst staying with us, tell us of your passions, your expectations, your pace of seeing the world as you cycle through it, and we will design bespoke options for your consideration.

How can I do it?

To get out on the road you obviously need the equipment to do so; bike, helmet, appropriate clothing etc. Currently we don’t offer these directly from Ingloss Skies as so far we have found that our guests have their own equipment that they are happy to bring and use.

We do have local bike shops that can offer hire, including electric bikes and are happy to offer guidance and advice.

Self-Guided/Guided?

It is very easy to pitch up, enjoy a fabulous evening at Ingloss Skies; rise, breakfast and then head off into the beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk countryside on either a self-guided or guided tour. To help with self-guided touring, we can provide GPX files for downloading to your own GPX enabled device. We can also provide GPX devices for hire as part of your stay.

Should you wish to be lead through the country lanes, Julian will be able to take you on the trip designed specifically for you.

Julian has cycled thousands of miles throughout Norfolk/Suffolk and is very familiar with the area and its beautiful nuances. Julian has also toured the UK and Europe on numerous self-supported tours; Lands End to John O’Groats, Norwich to Verona, Holland, Belgium, France, North England’s classic C2C (Whitehaven to Tynemouth) amongst many trips.

Safety is paramount, so bike checks, safety equipment, the carrying of first-aid supplies and understanding any particular medical requirements of our guests are pre-requisites for our cycling tours.
